FC Finally Drop First Points 

FC Twenty11 were finally defeated in the Mainland Premier Qualifying League  MPQL) losing to Selwyn 3 - 2 at Avonhead Park. 

It was Selwyn's second win of the week in the MPQL after they defeated Universities midweek 5 – 2.

Universities are now confirmed relegated from the Mainland Premier League for 2019. FC have 28 points, Selwyn 15 and Universities are on six with two full rounds to play.

Western Set To Bounce

Western look set to return to the Mainland Premier League brushing aside their closest rival Halswell 5 - 1 in the penultimate round of the Canterbury Championship League. 

Western were four goals to the good after the first quarter and were five up at the break - Halswell could only manage a consolation in the final minutes. 

In other games Christchurch United defeated Parkland 3 - 1 and Burwood edged Waimakariri 2 - 1. 

Western have 41 points - plus the advantage of a plus 17 goal difference over Halswell who are on 38 with ChCh United in third place on 21. Both Waimak and Parklands have 20 points with Burwood on 19. Both United and Waimak have completed their league program with final games on Saturday seeing Western away to Burwood with Halswell hosting Parklands  ,
