Mainland Football Futsal Referee Coordinator Chris Sinclair and Central Football's Antony Riley have travelled to the Continental Futsal Championships in Thailand prior to the 2021 Lithuania Futsal World Cup in September.
Here's an update on what their days have been like so far:
Day 1/2: Today we departed NZ, and our Journey begins. Arriving in Singapore, we had a 12hour transit in the airport, and with two days of international travel, we arrived in Bangkok. We were put through many security screening checkpoints throughout the flights and transit and ensured we were safe for travel. On arrival at the hotel, the security staff again closely monitored us, and we were PCR screened, and the medical team carried out swab tests.
Day 3: The first official day in Bangkok saw a rest day in the morning (giving the medical team the time to process the tests and give all the referee team the “all clear”). A light training session was held, and this gave the opportunity to be active and move the legs and body. Later in the evening, we had a theoretical session, and the topic was Video Support.
Day 4: The day began with a 6.00 am PCR swab test performed by the Hotel medical staff before heading to the venue (SHOWDC HALL). The morning practical session topic was Video Support. The referee group set up match situations and worked through the process of Video Support. The afternoon theoretical session topic was Video Support and Handball. Finally, matchday 1 and 2 appointments were given to all the referees to prepare for the tournament's commencement.
More updates to follow.
