Mainland Football has now completed a thorough review of its activities with a focus on achieving agreed outcomes across the whole of the business. The outcome of this review and process has culminated in a Restructure within the Organisation.
This outcome of restructure will see Mainland begin a search for a newly comprised position of Director of Football.
It is envisaged that the person in this new role will lead the Technical Development of the game whilst also at the same time be the Head Coach of Canterbury United Dragons playing in the ISPS Handa Championship.
The game locally has evolved over the last five years and we are now seeing growing capability and delivery of development programmes by our member Clubs. The key focus of this role is twofold:
1) Drive alignment across the club and federation development programmes.
2) Drive alignment through the High-Performance arm of Mainland Football.
A focus on local development of players and coaches is seen as a critical moving forward as we continue to develop the game and provide the best opportunities we can for all our members.
This restructure sees the current roles of Football Development Manager and Canterbury United Head coach disestablished.
In making this change Mainland Football thank Alan Walker for his ten year’s service in his current role with the Federation. During this time Alan has driven significant change for the betterment of the players in the region. We also acknowledge and thank Willy Gerdsen for his focus and determination in driving the Dragons programme over the last four years. We wish both Alan and Willy well for the future.
A search for our new Director of Football will start immediately.
