Cashmere Technical dominated Hamilton Wanderers, particularly in the second half, to move into the semi-final stage of the Chatham Cup 4 - 0. After an even opening quarter, Technical took the lead when Garbhlan Coughlan finished a quick interchange between Yuya Taguchi and Lyle Matthysen. The lead doubled on the hour when Garbhan was the provider for Luke Tongue to score.

Garbhlan then scored after running along the right-hand bye line with the Wanderers keeper, Matthew Oliver, caught out, not expecting the striker to shoot from such an impossible angle with the ball whipped home. In added time, Taguchi was rewarded for his high work rate to add his sides fourth goal. Technical was the only side to win their away quarter-final tie.

Fellow Southern League side, Otago University was unlucky not to score the 'winner' in the final minute of normal time when locked at 2 - 2, after North Shore lead 2 - 0 at the break. Neither side could score in added time, with Shore advancing on penalties 6 - 5.

Miramar caused the upset when knocking out Cup favourites, Auckland City 2 - 0, with fellow Wellington side, Western Suburbs, which includes former Canterbury United player Ben Stroud, moving into the semi's when defeating Hamilton's Melville 1 - 0.

The semi-finals will be played on the weekend of 21 / 22 August.
